I finally took the plunge and have signed up for Twitter. The best part so far has been following my husband, especially since he is out of town. He is a Twitter fan.
I learned that if you post a hash tag (the pound sign, plus letters/numbers), it helps make it easy to search for posts by that tag. I'm trying to get the word out to use #TLA09 for Tweets about the Texas Library Association conference this week. I plan to try posting tweets during the conference. So, you can search for #TLA09, or pwindsor (if you want to see my specific tweets) on Twitter if you want to find out what the twitter is at TLA.
Oh, and check out this link for 12 reasons to start Twittering
I read my first book on the Kindle over Spring Break. I love it. I almost think the print is clearer than on some books (especially those paperbacks with the cheap paper). I'm not so sure about reading blogs on it...the one I choose was Librarian in Black. It has a lot of links to other sites. The Kindle is NOT a good internet browsing device. I found it very difficult to explore those links listed in the blog. I will most likely unsubscribe from the blog.
I discovered it is good to watch the Amazon Kindle blog...they often have offers for free books (usually limited time offers).
Well...I start a blog and the only have one posting. How is it that life is so busy, I can't take time to explore and learn something new?
My husband purchased an Amazon Kindle 2 for my birthday. I do have to say I have had it for several days. I finally have set aside some time tonight to 'play' with it. Downloading a book from Amazon is simple! I was excited to discover that I can download txt files to the Kindle, and the Gutenberg Project has books I can download. It did take me a rather long time to figure out how to get it to my Kindle. I tried searching Google on the Kindle. Found the book (much easier to search on your computer and use the E-text No. to bring it up on the Kindle) but I'm not sure what happened when I clicked on the download button. It went back to the home screen. So, there has to be two ways to skin a cat...I connected USB to the Kindle and moved the file over from my computer. The Kindle appears like a USB drive. I downloaded
True Story of My Life by H. C. (Hans Christian) Andersen.
What book would you download from the Gutenberg Project?
I'm off to see if there is a blog I might be interested in subscribing to on the Kindle.
