I think my husband was correct when I asked him what's the deal with Twitter? He says it's all about who you follow. I think he may be right. I can quickly scan the Tweets to see if there is something I am interested in looking at further, or to get recent news information. I recently added School Library Journal as one I was following. This is an example of one of their recent Tweets.
"SLJ's Battle of the Books Begins with a Bang: kids' book ambassador Jon Scieszka drops the first bomb. http://bit.ly/FnbRe "
If you are a librarian, it might be something you would be interested in, or if you are a Jon Scieszka fan, you might be interested.
Who are you following on Twitter that has been a great resource to you?
I jumped off the deep end. I've signed up for a Facebook account, and a Twitter account. Exploring the wonders??? of social networking. I'm not quite sure about finding friends. I don't know of anyone who is on Facebook other than my husband and daughter. And Twitter. I signed up right before the Texas Library Assoc. conference and tried to get out the word to use a certain hash tag (makes posts searchable by that tag). I suggested #TLA09.While at the conference I found that there were two additional hash tags people were using. We'll need to find some way next to to have an offical tag set. Unfortunaltly there is no way to communicate the tag to use within Twitter. Although I did search
http://hashtags.org before I suggested the tag and didn't find anything in use. I guess I'll have to start earlier next year and find someone involved with the conference who can make an offical tag.
I have found all this to be a little overwhelming, trying to keep up with reading and posting. We'll see if I get the hang of it after trying for awhile.
