{Summer TIA} Save the dates!
August 3rd - 4th - 5th

The DISD Instructional Technology Department is offering teachers a special Technology Integration Academy Aug. 3, 4 and 5. These three days will be packed with useful learning that applies to all grades and subjects. Click here for more details!

“Each day will focus on a new topic, such as Curriculum and Instruction Integration, Emerging Technologies and DISD district ‘tools,’” said Robert Bostic, director of instructional technology.

Teachers can choose sessions that match their interests. Teachers may attend all three days or just one or two.

With principal permission, teachers who spend a full day at the academy may receive a “trade off” day to be used Monday of Thanksgiving week of the 2010-11 school year.

Instructional Technology also is looking for teachers who would like to present integration ideas that have been successful in their classrooms.   Go to this link to access the proposal form: www.dentonisd.org/TIAPresenters

Bostic Named Director for Instructional Technology
posted 06/09/09

{Robert Bostic}
Robert E. Bostic, currently principal for Rainwater Elementary School in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch school district, has been named Director of Instructional Technology for Denton ISD.

He replaces Holly Davis, who resigned earlier this school year for a position with another school district. Interim director for the school year has been Christine Jacobsen.

Mr. Bostic, 39, has been a school principal for past 14 years and was named the 2008 Administrator of the Year by the Texas Computer Education Association. In 2005, he initiated a competitive robotics league for elementary and middle school students in the C-FB school district.

As the instructional leader at Rainwater Elementary, he has helped the school attain its “Exemplary” status. Rainwater Elementary also was named an Honor Roll School by Texas Business Education Coalition under his guidance.

In Denton ISD, he will oversee implementing technology instruction and lessons into the core subjects at all grade levels.

“We are looking forward to Mr. Bostic joining the Denton ISD educational team because he brings direct line school experience. He has modeled the technology experience,” said Ernie Stripling, technology officer for Denton ISD.

“He will also be responsible for guiding the instructional technology as a key source of learning in the classroom and serve as the liaison between technology and curriculum departments,” Mr. Stripling said.

He has been principal of Rainwater Elementary for the past two years. He has also been a principal at Sheffield Intermediate in Carrollton, Forest Lane Academy of Arts and Communication in Richardson, Telstar Elementary in Oklahoma City. He has also been an assistant principal, as well as a teacher for fifth-grade and first-grade.

Besides being named TCEA Administrator of the Year, he was selected as Key Note Speaker for Langston University Education Week.

He received his bachelor’s of science degree in elementary education from Langston University in Langston, Ok. and his master’s degree in school administration from University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Ok.
