WELCOME Welcome to the Wildcat Golf pages of
Assistant coach Lance Brown and head coach Roddy Adams greatly appreciate your interest in our program which consists of fall and spring golf for both the girls and the boys teams. We currently have 8 girls and 11 boys on our 2011-2012 teams. Our Lady Wildcats won District 5-4A championships in the spring of 2007 and 2009. They earned another Region 1 birth with a second place finish in April of 2008 and finished third in 2010. In our school's 6 years the boys have finished 5th, 4th, 4th, 5th, 2nd {in 2010}, and 4th with one regional qualifier in '07, '09, and '10 with the team qualifying in 2010 for regionals. The Girl's and Boy's team of May 2011 graduated 6 boys and no girls.
We will have 6 or more boys and girls competing for the top 5 spots for each tournament. Our school practices are generally held at Lantana Golf Club, Oakmont Country Club, and T.W.U. golf course. The district has long range plans of building a practice facility using artificial greens with bunkers and a driving range area adjacent to the C.H. Collins Athletic Complex as well. Boys/Girls needing more experience practice from 8:15-9:30 am and more advanced Girls/Boys practice from 3:45-5:45 pm. If players are members at the practice site they are welcome, obviously, to stay as long as they wish. All of the players are urged to practice as much as possible outside the school day and on weekends if championship skills are to be achieved.
The varsity teams play the maximum of eight tournaments allowed by the U.I.L. in addition to the district tournament and hopefully regional and state tournaments which individuals and teams must qualify to participate. We have fall and spring golf as do most 4A and 5A schools in north Texas. The junior varsity or varsity B-team will play 6-8 tournaments, and players with enough skills and ability also can be chosen to participate in the April district tournament. Players in Our overall goals are to win the district championships each year, to win the Region I championships in Lubbock |
