Be a part of something SPECIAL!
The Wildcat Band is beginning to establish itself as one of the most successful, fastest growing band programs in North Texas. Not only are students learning to perform a musical instrument in a variety of different settings, they are learning the essentials of teamwork, self-motivation, self-discipline, individual responsibility, and social skills that prove to be effective in any career, sport, or other activity.
Under the direction of band directors Chris Cansler, Amy Woody, and Ellis Hampton, students are offered instruction in marching band, jazz ensemble, percussion ensemble, colorguard, winterguard, full symphony orchestra, and concert band techniques. Hopefully many of the questions you have about signing up, schedules, and requirements for participation will be answered by reading the informational brocure below. If not, please feel free to contact the Guyer Band office at any time. We will be more than happy to answer your questions as quickly as possible.
Informational Brochure GHS Band Philosophy
It is the goal of the Guyer Band to cultivate a life-long appreciation for music in each student. The Guyer Band will foster musical, leadership, social, emotional, time management, and teamwork skills to carry students successfully into their future. Guyer Band students will be better human beings as a result of their experience in band because students will not be used to make music...music will be used to make the students.
