Background: Worked many years in non-profit organizations specializing in counseling services with children, adolescents, and families. Individual and group settings addressing mental health, emotional issues, crisis intervention, and substance abuse prevention and intervention.
The role of the student assistance counselor is to provide individual/group counseling services, crisis intervention, and referrals to community resources when necessary. Educational guidance is provided to students on suicide prevention, bullying, substance abuse prevention, and dating violence/healthy relationships. The goal of the Student Assistance Counselor is to identify and resolve issues that significantly impact a student's academic success.
