Welcome to Calhoun Middle School. I have been with the district for more than 15 years, all with Calhoun. I worked for 9 years as a special education teacher in a variety of classrooms; ranging from Life skills, resource Reading and History, and Content Mastery. I have worked for the last 10 years as an assistant principal. I have my bachelors degree in Government from TWU and my masters degree in Educational Administration from Tarleton State University. I will be working with 7th grade during the 16-17 school year.
We are an IB school and as such I believe all areas of academics should be connected to provide a holistic approach to learning and living. Our daily lives interlink reading, math, writing, critical thinking and problem solving skills. We live in a world where many cultures coexist. We should embrace these cultures and look for the commonalities between us. As we do these things we should also recognize the importance of communication within our lives and at school. Having open communication allows us to come together to find how we are similar and how to solve problems. As an IB school, we strive to incorporate all three components of the IB philosophy in our teaching, and our relationships with our students, parents and community.
Calhoun is a great place to work and attend school. The staff is very dedicated to the students and their education. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I look forward to serving your children this year.
