    Welcome to American History!
Welcome!  This year we will tackle American History and learn how our country got it's start and found it's place as a world leader among nations which had been established for thousands of years. How did a bunch of men, women, and children, putting their hopes and dreams of a better life, journey to a new world, establish a new nation through blood, sweat, tears, plague, famine, starvation, and war?  These colonists founded a new nation conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with inalienable rights of life, liberty and justice for all.  Where did they get that idea? Did they just invent it? At the time, no one else in the world had that idea, no one else in the world had that type of government or freedom or belief in equality.  From monarchies to democracy, we will discover how our country achieved the goals set forth by our founding fathers.

Together we will look at the history of this country using original documents preserved by the Library of Congress.  If you want to know why our founding families did all this, you have to go to the source. These documents are all preserved for us to figure out what they really meant and how they really wanted this country to continue long after they were gone. We will study the documents they wrote and left for us to govern this nation they created.
I look forward to a great year together!!!
