• Dear Families,
Hello, my name is Frank Hummel and I will be your child’s 6th, 7th, or 8th grade MOC teacher this year. MOC is the acronym for Math Objective Classroom.  The focus of this classroom will be to focus on students needing additional assistance in math based on particular objective content areas.  For example, John Q. Student passes their overall STAAR test last year with an overall grade of 67%.  After breaking down that student's scores, we see the following information:

    Obj. 1 content: 33%           Obj. 3 content: 23%          Obj. 5 content: 58%
    Obj. 2 content: 67%           Obj. 4 content: 72%

Based upon that information, we would determine John Q. Student needs further assistance, or perhaps remediation in Objective 1 and 3 content areas; that is where the MOC class comes in.  John Q. Student will come in at the beginning of a six weeks period, take a pretest to determine if they still stuggle in that area, and depending on the results of the pretest, stay with us for a six weeks period.

A more detailed flowchart is available for your perusal; click on MOC Flowchart to see the example of how it works.

I am looking forward to a very exciting and productive school year.  I am entering my twevleth year in education.  As the year goes on, I am looking forward to meeting you and getting to know you and your student.

If you need to speak with me for any reason, please don’t hesitate to give me a call at (972) 347-7586.  Bear in mind that calls won’t be taken Monday-Friday from 8:20-3:20 since class is in session but you’re welcome to leave a voicemail.  You may also email me at fhummel@dentonisd.org; either method is good and I will reply as soon as possible.

Good-bye for now, and let your child know that we will have a great year.

     Frank Hummel
