Mr. John Curtis

I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. However, I received both my Undergraduate degree and Master's degree from Texas Tech University so I spent a significant portion of my life in Lubbock. It was while I was attending Tech that I had the opportunity to study abroad in Sevilla, Spain and it was there that I developed my love of other cultures, and I truly embrace the IB tenant of being globally minded. It was also at Texas Tech that I met my wife Amanda. We have been married for seven years and like to spend our time travelling, cooking together, and playing with our dogs Sevilla and Granada. We welcomed our first child this past December.

This is my sixth year at Denton High School and my third year teaching the Junior level IB History course. I also teach AP U.S. History and AP Macroeconomics. Mr. Mathews and I feel we continue to build a very strong IB History & AP US History program at Denton High School. It is our hope to help our students not only develop an appreciation for history and how it impacts the world in which we live, but also acquire skills that will be beneficial after high school.
