The Denton ISD Board of Trustees honored the 2013 Guyer state championship football team at its regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 25. Guyer defeated Brennan in December for its second consecutive state football title.
The Guyer Silverados dance team will host its Junior Dance Clinic for girls in kindergarten through eighth grade on March 1, with registration forms available for download immediately. The clinic will last from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1, and cost $30.
The Guyer High and Ryan High Winter Drum Lines had a commanding start to the season, finishing among the top finishers at the North Texas Colorguard Association’s area competition in Coppell.
The Guyer UIL Academic teams took home a variety of awards at the Ryan UIL Academic Invitational on Feb. 8. Guyer competitors took home many first place awards, including the speech team ranking first and accounting team ranking second overall, earning the school second place sweepstakes at the tournament.
Denton ISD athletic teams will be split into two districts as part of the bi-annual University Interscholastic League's district realignment for football and basketball. The UIL announced its statewide process of placing schools in athletics districts by student enrollment figures Feb. 3.
