    I obtained my
    Bachelor of Social Work Degree from Southern University A&M Baton Rouge, LA .While
    working as a Social Worker in Baton Rouge, LA; I returned to college and
    completed my Master Degree in Mental Health Counseling.

     During my career I have worked with various populations such as the school system, mental health agencies, substance abuse treatment facilities and the correctional facilities.  
    I truly enjoy
    working with the youth population. When employed at Volunteer of America, LA., I
    worked as a Family Interventionist Therapist who assisted parents and children
    in the school system that were experiencing life stressors. 

    Throughout my diligent work and consistent
    drive, I obtained my Licenses as a Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed
    Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC).
     

    I moved to
    Texas in 1998, where I have been blessed to expand my skills and knowledge in the
    counseling field. I began working with Metro-Care Mobile Adolescent Crisis
    Intervention Team as a Crisis Therapist in 1998.
    Expanding my career as a 
    Substance Abuse Counselor in Outpatient Programs as well as in the Correctional Facilities.
    After relocating to 
    the Denton area with my family, 

    I worked with Denton MHMR mobile Crisis Intervention
    team, University Behavior Health (UBH) and Private Practice agencies.

    I am pleased
    to serve as your Student Assistance Counselor at Rivera Elementary. I strive to
    help students and their families maximize the opportunity for changing their thinking
    and behaviors which empowers life choices. As your Student
    Assistance Counselor, I hope to provide our students with the RECEIPT for successful coping skills  that will EMPOWER then to overcome
    barriers in all areas of their life.
