• Welcome to Speech at Cross Oaks Elementary

    Speech-Language Pathology in the schools addresses the following areas frequently:
    Articulation - speech sounds and their disorders
    Language - Receptive language (language understood) and expressive (language used)
    Fluency - Unrelated to reading fluency, speech fluency refers to stuttering (sound, word repetitions, blocks, etc.)
    Pragmatics - How language is used with peers, teachers and others

    Augmentative/Alternative Communication (AAC) - speech devices and their use for communication

    Speech-Language Pathology includes additional domains but these are less commonly addressed in the school setting.
