• Hello!  Welcome to the WS Ryan Elementary school counselor's page.
    Heather Fishbeck

Counselor's Name:  Heather Fishbeck                                     Phone Number:  940-369-4611

I am excited to be the counselor at W.S. Ryan and working with your children this year.  My counseling philosophy is that children have the capacity to resolve their own problems and to make their own decisions with the professional assistance of a counselor serving as a facilitator. The counselor's goal is to help each child develop positive feelings of self, as well as the problem-solving skills necessary to be effective citizens in today's world.  With these goals in mind we are teaching the students to be the best citizens that they can be.
I graduated from the University of Houston-Victoria with a B.S. in Elementary Education with a reading specialization.  I also received my Master's of Education in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Houston-Victoria.  This is my 24th year in the education field.  I taught 6th grade reading and 8th grade PALS in Victoria, Texas for five years.  I have also had the opportunity to be a high school counselor in the Corpus Christi, Texas area, a 5th/6th grade school counselor, and an assistant principal.
Please feel free to contact me at anytime.
"Be the Voice" is a district-wide theme of topics to be covered each month.  These topics encourage students, families, and Denton ISD staff to use their voices in supporting one another to become engaged citizens who positively impact their local and global community.
"Counselors recognize that trust is a cornerstone of the counseling relationship.  Counselors aspire to earn the trust of [students] by creating an ongoing partnership, establishing and upholding appropriate boundaries, and maintaining confidentiality."
    Confidentiality is maintained unless:
    • someone is hurting you
    • you want to hurt someone
    • you want to hurt yourself, or
    • you give me permission to share with a trusted adult
