Mr. Matt Baggerly


Mr. Baggerly is the Director of Bands at Bettye Myers Middle School. He is currently in his 11th year of teaching and his 4th at Myers. During his direction of the Myers Wind Ensemble, the ensemble has achieved the UIL Sweepstakes award and other superior ratings in multiple festivals. He has also served as co-director of the Myers Full Orchestra combining the Myers Wind Ensemble and Varsity Orchestra. This ensemble was given a superior rating at the PEAK Music Festival in 2016. Before coming to Denton ISD, he was the coordinator of all musical activities from 4th to 8th grade at Melissa ISD. In Melissa, he directed the middle school's Wind Ensemble receiving consecutive UIL Sweepstakes awards and advancement to the area level of the Texas ATSSB Outstanding Performance Series. He has also served as an associate band director at Apollo Junior High in Richardson ISD, receiving superior ratings and accolades from many judges about students whom he taught.


Mr. Baggerly attended the University of Texas-Arlington, and became a cum laude graduate for a Bachelors in Music in 2007. He also recently received his Masters in Educational Leadership in 2014 from Stephen F. Austin University.  Mr. Baggerly is a saxophone player with a wide knowledge of all woodwind instruments and ensemble techniques. 


Mr. Baggerly is happily married to his wife, Allison, and has two sons, Evan (pictured above) and James. They also all share an awesome three-legged (or tri-pawed) named Joey in their family as well.
