Welcome to GHS! I am the Guyer High School Student Assistance Counselor (SAC). Denton I.S.D. has long recognized the relationship between academic success and emotional well-being. When students are experiencing significant life stressors, learning may not be their first priority.  In response to the growing social and emotional needs experienced by our students, Denton I.S.D. utilizes Student Assistance Counselors on all secondary campuses. The role of the Student Assistance Counselor is to provide crisis intervention, psycho-educational counseling services and referrals to community counseling agencies when necessary.

The goal of the Student Assistance Counselor is to identify and resolve issues significantly impacting a student's success in the classroom. Student Assistance Counselors meet with students individually and/or in a group setting during the school day.
This is my 18th year in education, in my previous life I have been a Special Education Counselor, a mental health crisis assessor and a private therapist. I currently hold my License Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), License Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) licensees.

I hope throughout this school year to encourage living well with all my students at Guyer.
