• Dyslexia Room 2017-2018

Greetings! This is my 16th year working in education and going on my 7th year at Cross Oaks Elementary.  I am very excited to be here and looking forward to a great year.  My teaching experience consists of 2 years as a literacy grant aide, 9 years as a general education teacher (Grades K, 2, & 5th) and this is will be my 5th year as a full time dyslexia therapist serving Cross Oaks Elementary.
Although born in New Mexico- I am a native Texan at heart as I grew up in North Texas and attended the majority of my education K-12 between Denton ISD and Sanger ISD. I graduated from TWU holding a Bachelors Degree in Family Studies and a Masters of Art in Teaching.  I obtained my dyslexia training through the LEAD program in Dallas and am currently a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) as well as a Certified Dyslexia Therapist (through the International Dyslexia Association). I have a young daughter whom is 3 and full of life and adventure.
I am committed to helping my students do their very best and feel successful as students and readers.  We are using a program by Margaret Taylor Smith called Multisensory Teaching Approach, also known as MTA, which is based on the Orton-Gillingham teaching method. In addition to this, we use some parts of the Take Flight Program from Scottish Rite Hospital. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns about your child and I will be glad to help!
