• Mrs. McLarty in Third Grade
I grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Edmond High School. Then I headed to Norman for college at The University of Oklahoma... Go Sooners! I had always dreamed of being a teacher, so as soon as I graduated I applied for a program called Teach For America. I was sent to Tunica, Mississippi to teach 5th grade. The kids and their families were wonderful to me, and I still keep in touch with some of them.
After attending graduate school in Dallas, I settled in Denton and began teaching third grade for Denton ISD in 2001. I taught at both McNair and E.P. Rayzor before joining the curriculum department as a Literacy and Science Support Teacher based at Rivera Elementary. I knew that eventually I wanted to be a principal, and I completed my masters in Educational Administration at UNT.

I served as assistant principal, then principal of Pecan Creek Elementary School from 2005 through 2014.  In August of 2014, I will begin serving as principal of Dorothy P. Adkins Elementary School in Lantana.
