My name is Marissa Glasschroeder (Glass-shray-der...I know it's not an easy one to pronounce, so feel free to call me Mrs. G!) and I am very excited about being your child's First Grade Teacher! I grew up in Nacogdoches, Texas. I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Minor in Spanish from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. 8 years ago, I graduated with my Masters Degree in the Arts of Teaching from Texas Woman's University. I am a certified Child Life Specialist and worked as a CLS for 12 years at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, before coming to the classroom. I taught 2nd grade here at Nelson for 6 years, and this is my second year teaching first grade. I am so excited!

I am certified to teach Pre-K through 4th grade as well as ESL (English as a Second Language). I love children and feel that teaching is the most rewarding job in the world.

A few of my favorite things are...my church and faith, crosses, my family, my friends, dogs, music of all kinds, the outdoors, nature, camping, hiking, biking, competitive swimming, travelling, reading books, laughing, playing games, and eating really good food. My family includes Mark, my wonderful husband of 17 years, and our 3 incredible children, Colton (22), Lilly (15), and Rylie (12). Our exciting news this year is that Mark and I became grandparents! Yes, our granddaughter, Tinslee Paige was born on September 13. She is almost one, too cute, and in to EVERYTHING! We have also have two fur babies. Sunny is our 8 year old Chihuahua, and Skylar is our 3 year old Golden Retriever. We have lived in Krum for 17 years.

I look forward to learning about your child and his/her family, as well as all the things that they are interested in! We will spend much of the first week of school getting to know one another.
