This is Tanner, our McNair Therapy Dog. He is starting his 4th year working at McNair. His mission is to assist staff and students throughout the school year in a number of ways. He greets students in the morning, helps relieve tears and fears, motivates students, rewards students for their hard work or good behavior, and even listens to students read to him. Studies show that therapy dogs contribute to overall school climate because of their warmth and acceptance.
Tanner is a very sweet, loving 8 year old registered therapy dog. He even has his own Facebook page.Tanner Harrup's Facebook page
He is a hypo-allergenic breed and is current on all of his shots and vet visits. If you have concerns (such as allergies or fear of dogs), please let me know so that I can minimize your child's interaction with Tanner. Tanner will be on campus Mondays and Fridays, and occasionally on other days.
I believe this program has the potential to make a significant difference in the lives of our children. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions or concerns, or need further information regarding Animal Assisted Counseling at McNair.
