• Bully Busters
                                                                                
    When a report is made a full investigation is conducted to determine what action needs to be taken.

    First Offense (classroom)
    • Discussion with victim
    • Discussion with child about bullying behavior
    • Handled at the classroom teacher level
    • Teacher takes child through a discussion process and issues a warning that another instance will be referred to the guidance counselor and/or administration.
    • Child who chose to bully should acknowledge and make amends or an apology for hurtful actions
    • Teacher will contact parents of child who is doing the "bullying"
    • Make sure student is aware that he/she is being documented in The Bully Buster's Folder
    Second Offense (counselor may be involved)
    • Discussion with victim
    • Discussion with bully
    • Conference with Counselor
    • Identify the anti-social behavior
    • Child who chose to bully should acknowledge actions and make amends/offer an apology for his/her hurtful actions
    • Teacher will contact parents of child who is doing the "bullying"
    • Make sure student is aware that he/she is being documented the The Bully Busters Folder
    Third Offense (administrator)
    • Office Referral
    • Parent(s)/Guardian(s) notified (conference held upon their request)
    • Discussion with victim
    • Discussion with bully
    • Child who chose to bully should acknowledge and make amends or an apology for hurtful actions
    • Identify the anti-social behavior
    • Parent Contact
    • Make sure student is aware that he/she is being documented in The Bully Busters Folder.
    • Consequence includes In School Suspension or action appropriate to the student's past disciplinary history in accordance with Denton ISD's code of conduct
    Fourth Offense (administrator)
    • 3rd Office Referral
    • Parent(s)/Guardian(s) notified (conference held upon their request)
    • Discussion with victim
    • Discussion with bully
    • Identify the anti-social behavior
    • Possible enrollment in "bully buster" or "victims" guidance group
    • Make sure student is aware that he/she is being documented in The Bully Busters Folder.
    • Consequence includes Out of School Suspension or action appropriate to the student's past disciplinary history in accordance with Denton ISD's code of conduct.

    Fifth Offense (administrator)
    • 4th Office Referral
    • Parent(s)/Guardian(s) notified (conference held upon their request)
    • Discussion with victim
    • Discussion with bully
    • Identify the anti-social behavior
    • Make sure student is aware that he/she is being documented in the The Bully Buster Folder
    • Consequence includes a referral for possible placement in the Denton ISD alternative educational setting (Davis School) or action appropriate to the student's past disciplinary history in accordance with Denton ISD's code of conduct.
    Consequences are subject to severity of incident. Refer to DISD student code of conduct.
