The Denton Independent School District is one of the fastest growing school districts in the state, growing by 45 percent over the past decade and more than 20 percent during the past five years. During that time, Denton ISD's student population has grown from about 14,000 students to today's current enrollment of more than 25,700.
Student growth increases the need for Denton ISD to refurbish existing schools, consider the construction of new campuses and continue to make the necessary upgrades to safety and technology throught the distrct. The Board of Trustees has appointed a special citizen's advisory committee to determine the district's future needs, based on its current facilities and projected growth.
This diverse group is made up of residents throughout the district's 180 square miles and will help define a potential bond package that, through voter approval, would allow Denton ISD to accomodate this growth and continue providing its students a quality education for many years to come.
