• All About Mrs. Kent

    My family
I graduated from Tarleton State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Sciences- Child and Family Studies.  I have been married for eight years to my amazing husband, Johnny, and we have two kids.  My son Cooper is 6 and my daughter Anna Scott is 4.  We have two Golden Retrievers, Gracie and Jagger.  I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  My mom and I raise and show Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.  I also enjoy riding my horse on the weekends.
This is my ninth year to teach.  I taught 2nd grade for six years at Bridgeport Elementary School where I learned from some great teacher mentors that became life long friends of mine.  I began teaching in DISD in 2013 as a 4th grade teacher at Ginnings Elementary, and I was truly blessed to be given the opportunity of working as a 5th grade teacher with our first graduating 5th grade class from Adkins Elementary.  To be an Adkins Aviator is an experience like no other.  Adkins Elementary is the place to be and the most amazing school I have ever worked at.  It is my home away from home and filled with such love from a truly AMAZING group of people.
Teaching Kindergarten is going to be very exciting!  The students are eager to learn and curious about everything.  They amaze me each day with enthusiasm and energy.  My hope is that our classroom will be a safe and challenging place for your child to learn and grow.  The transformation from the beginning of the year to the end of the year is an awesome journey.
I believe it is important that we, the teacher and parent, work as a team to insure your child's success both academically as well as emotionally.  Therefore, communication is very important.  Always feel free to contact me with questions and concerns so we can work through them together.
It is going to be a fabulous year!!!!
