    Arrival and Dismissal

Students may come to the classroom at the 7:35 bell. The cafeteria doors open at 7:20 and your child may buy breakfast from the cafeteria or wait in the gym until the 7:35 bell. After 7:50, your child is tardy and will need to get a tardy slip from the front office. Announcements begin at 7:50 and by 8:00 instruction has begun.

Attending school is vital for your child. Please be aware of the school policy on attendance.

According to the Denton ISD Student Code of Conduct:

When a student is absent at the elementary or middle school level, parents are asked to call the school by 10 A.M. on the first day of the absence. Regardless of telephone contact, the parent/guardian needs to ensure a note explaining the reason for the absence is received in the school’s office within 72 hours (3 days) of the student’s return to school. Please do not turn in notes to the classroom teacher. Failure to provide a note will result in the absence being recorded as unverified. If a student is at school at 10:00 a.m., the child is considered present for ADA purposes only.

Attendance and punctuality are so important but staying home to recover from illness is a greater need. Children who come to school sick will spread their illness to others.

Our lunch is from 11:00-11:30. You are more than welcome to eat lunch with your child our stage. Please check in at the office.  You can only lunch with your child. They may not bring a friend with them onto the stage unless that child’s parent is also with them.

Our recess is from 10:40-11:00. Texas weather is tricky! We have many days where it is chilly during recess yet very warm/hot in the afternoon (especially in the Spring). Please dress your child appropriately or send a light jacket. We try to go outside for recess as often as we can but make adjustments on the weather.

Snack is after specials around 1:45. Please send a snack with your child. It needs to be something simple they can eat quickly and without a spoon. Snacks like goldfish, sliced apples, cheese sticks, granola bars, pretzels, etc. are great. Please be aware of any food allergies in your child’s class. Peanut and nut allergies are common so please try to avoid sending peanut based snacks or nuts. If you have specific questions please contact your child’s teacher.

    Change of Clothes

Please send a change of clothes to school with your child everyday for those days accidents happen. Even if your child hasn’t had a bathroom accident in a few years it is still a good idea for those rare days when milk or water is spilled or the slides and swings are wet. Your child may keep the extra clothes in their backpack or in their cubby at school.

    Water Bottles

We encourage your child to stay hydrated by drinking water every day. It is advisable to send a water bottle for you child. They will keep their water bottle in their cubby but please label it with their name. It is easier for us to stay healthier by not spreading germs when we use our water bottles and quicker for them to quench their after recess thirst.

    Classroom Climate

Our classroom can get chilly at times, especially when it is hot outside. A light jacket, sweatshirt, hoodie, etc. is a great idea to send to school to keep in their cubby or backpack. Please put their first and last name in it as jackets and sweatshirts are left around the room when the temperature changes.

    Lost and Found

The lost and found is located outside the cafeteria and gym doors. Every year we take bags and bags of nice jackets, lunchboxes, sweatshirts, etc. to goodwill at the Holiday break and at the end of school. It is very important to label jackets and lunchboxes.
