I am honored to the be the new assistant principal of McNair Elementary. This is my first year as an assistant principal and my first year with Denton ISD. I am coming from Irving ISD where I was an educator for 14 years. I served as a bilingual teacher in 1st and 3rd grade working with a diverse group of learners (General Education, GT and SPED). I served as a bilingual special education inclusion/SPED team lead and case manager for grades 3-5. I worked as a Math and Reading Interventionist. The last 5 years I had the privilege of working as an Academic Specialist on a middle school campus. The primary role of an academic specialist is to take a campus you are assigned to by the district and help them reach their educational goals. I did a lot of instructional coaching for teachers and principals. I provided professional development for the campus and the district. I loved my position as an Academic Specialist mostly because I feel it truly prepared me for my current role as your assistant principal. I could not have dreamed of a better campus or district to start my administrative journey. When my husband and I decided to move to Denton, all we heard was how wonderful McNair elementary was. I wanted to live in the McNair zone so my children could attend never realizing, I would be able to have the privilege of working on the campus.
On a personal note, I grew up in Oak Cliff which is a little area near downtown Dallas. I graduated from the University of Texas @ Austin in 2002. I received my Master degree from Lamar University in Educational Technology Leadership. I also received my principal certification through Lamar. My husband and I have two amazing children, Ethan who is in Pre-K but excited to be a future Commander next school year. I have a daughter Esme who just turned a year old and keeps us very busy.
