Director of Bilingual/ESL & Migrant Programs
Teresa Luna-Taylor is the Director of Bilingual/English as Second Language Programs for Denton ISD. She has served as director for the past eight years. Originally from El Paso, Texas, Teresa Luna-Taylor is a Bilingual/ESL high school graduate from El Paso ISD. She moved to Denton where she attended Texas Woman’s University and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Bilingual Education with Professional Certification in Elementary Bilingual/ESL and Early Childhood. Later, Mrs. Luna-Taylor earned her M.A. in Educational Leadership and Principal Certification from TWU.
Teresa Luna-Taylor began her teaching career 19 years ago in Denton ISD, where she taught Bilingual Headstart through fourth grade at Rivera Elementary, Ann Windle, and Newton Rayzor Elementary. After eight years of teaching, Mrs. Luna-Taylor served as the Elementary Bilingual/ESL Coordinator for three years before becoming the Director of Bilingual/ESL Programs.
The Bilingual/ESL Department is devoted to the academic success of our English language learners. It takes pride in its service to not only English language learners but also to the parents, teachers, administrators and all Denton ISD stakeholders as together they provide the best educational opportunities for our students. “When it comes to our English Language Learners,” Mrs. Luna-Taylor says, “it is about going above and beyond the call of duty in order to ensure their success for today and tomorrow.”
