Library Policies:

General Expectations:

All patrons of the library are expected to:

Respect of Privacy
Just take care of your own business. Be courteous of others by allowing them their privacy.

Respect for Property
Includes the property of the school, the library, and others.

Respect for Ownership
Not only of physical property, but intellectual property, too. In other words, cite your sources; give credit to the creator of the information!

Respect for Others and  the Law
See above. This summarizes the rest.

Circulation:

Students must have a school ID to check out materials or use computers.

Students may check out up to four books at a time, for 2 weeks. One renewal is allowed for an additional 2 weeks. Exceptions are made when books are needed for school assignments.

Hint: Always renew when offered! We do NOT like collecting fines and we DO want all student records to be clear.

One magazine may be checked out for one day only and is considered one of the four items allowed.

Magazines should be returned the following morning, placed on the circulation desk, or in a library employee’s hand. Do NOT place magazines in the book drop.

Fines:

25¢ per item, per day late. There is a one day grace period allowed. Fines start accumulating on the second day. The maximum fine of $2.50 per item is reached after an item is two weeks late. Fines can be worked off by the students in the library. Students must speak with the librarian, make work arrangements, and obtain a pass.

Lost items:

If an item is lost or damaged beyond use, the student must pay the cost to replace the item. This can be done in increments if they are unable to pay all at once. Lost or damaged books cannot be worked off like a fine.

I.D. Badges:

ID badges must be worn at all times.

ID cards are $3.00.

Lanyards: $1.00 for the slim black cords, and $2.00 for the blue McMath lanyards.

Badges are sold only between 10:30 - 2. Students should purchase a replacement ID as early as possible, if they are able. If they cannot afford an ID, they must go to the office for a sticker.

Plastic badge covers are recommended to protect the IDs. They can be purchased for 75¢ in the library. Our covers are strong and secure the ID inside. Any badge cover is a good idea, because the hard plastic breaks easily. Soon you have no ID, and no idea where it went! Cheaper badge covers are available at local stores and we’re happy to share that information with you.
