About the Director:
Eleshia Crotwell has been teaching and directing Theatre Arts for eighteen years. While at Denton Guyer High School, she has taken two shows to the UIL One Act Play State meet. In Conference 5A, in 2012, Les Liaisons Dangereuses placed third, and was awarded an Honorable Mention All-Star Cast award and an All-Star Cast award. In Conference 4A, in 2009, Amadeus placed second, and was awarded two Honorable Mention All Star Cast awards, Best Actor, and the Samuel French Award. Also, while at Guyer, Mrs. Crotwell has led two musicals to the Texas State Thespian Festival Mainstage. CATS the musical closed the festival in 2007, and Sweeney Todd the musical opened the festival in 2008. In 2006, Quilters the musical was seen on the alternate mainstage, and in 2009, Agnes of God was seen in the Marathon Play Arena. Mrs. Crotwell established Guyer's Thespian Troupe #7022, and she remembers the first Texas State Thespian they attended, where they were listed as Troupe New, because they didn't have a troupe number until the end of that year!
She has worked in the San Angelo Independent School District and in the Little Elm ISD, and she has been the Head Theatre Arts Director in a 3A, 4A, and 5A school. While at Lake View High School in San Angelo, Mrs. Crotwell established Lake View's first ever Thespian troupe, took a show to State Thespian Festival and International Thespian Festival, and went to State in UIL One Act Play for the first time in the history of the school. She then moved to San Angelo Central High school, where she enjoyed being head of a 5A theatre department, took The Sound of Music to State Thespian as a mainstage production, and served on the Texas State Thespians Adult Advisory Board. Piror to opening the Theatre Department at Guyer, she was theTheatre Arts Director at Little Elm High School, where she went to state for four consecutive years, and traveled a show to State Thespian as a mainstage for two consecutive years.
Mrs. Crotwell graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Angelo State University. Mrs. Crotwell has training in voice and dance, and she worked her way through college choreographing the musicals and teaching at the Ballet Arts School in San Angelo. Her other passion is stage makeup. Mrs. Crotwell is addicted to Diet Coke from Sonic, has an unhealthy obsession with the 80's, and loves to collect Happy Meal Toys. She has a wonderful husband named Chris, who is the piano instructor for the Keller Independent School District.
The most important thing to know about Mrs. Crotwell is that she is passionate about Theatre as an art form, and even more passionate about sharing her love of theatre with her students.
