Local concert on July 16 raises funds for Ryan band

An upcoming concert at Denton Independent School District’s C.H. Collins Athletic Complex will raise funds for the Ryan High School band, featuring world-class performances throughout the night.

The 10th annual Red River Thunder drum and bugle corps show will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at C.H. Collins, though gates will be open beginning at 5:30 p.m.. General admission tickets to the concert begin at $20, with concessions available at the event. Parking is available for free.

Top bands from across the nation will compete in the concert, with 11 bands performing in all. The event serves as one of Drum Corps International’s stops for its national tour, which showcases the country’s top marching musicians.

Funds from the concert will go to the Ryan Band Boosters organization, with proceeds to be used for scholarships for Ryan band members as well as private music lessons for economically disadvantaged students. More than $100,000 has been raised by the event since its inception for disadvantaged Denton ISD students and band scholarships.
