Program allows freshmen to get their own first day of school on Aug. 21

The 2015-16 school year will begin Monday, Aug. 24, for all students in the Denton Independent School District, but not for high school freshmen.

Denton ISD’s Freshman First Day program ensures these students get an early, first-hand look at high school life at each of their respective campuses before the rest of their classmates Friday, Aug. 21.

The program serves as an orientation for first-year high school students by offering a welcome program as well as allowing them to attend classes, walk the halls on their own and get acclimated to the larger campuses. Freshman First Day also introduces participants to various school clubs, organizations and programs without the added stress of a typical first day of school.

Lunch will be available for purchase or students may bring it from home. In addition, bus transportation to students who would normally receive it will be provided.

For more information on the program, please contact your respective high school or the department of secondary academic programs at 940-369-0032.
