Harpool Middle School will host a blood drive in partnership with Carter BloodCare on Friday, Sept. 11, in remembrance of 9-11.
Blood donations will take place from 1-5 p.m. at the school’s gym, located at 9601 Stacee Lane in Lanatana, and is open to school staff and community members. The blood drive is part of Harpool’s bi-annual initiative to provide donations to Carter BloodCare, with the initiative entering its fourth year at the school.
Potential donors must be at least 16 years old and in good health, though children ages 16 and 17 must also have signed parental permission. All donors must weigh at least 110 pounds and cannot drink alcohol within 12 hours prior to donating blood.
Donations cannot be given if antibiotics are being taken for any reason other than health maintenance or prevention. Potential donors are encouraged to drink lots of water or juice before and after donating, and donors are encouraged to avoid strenuous activity or alcohol consumption for at least 12 hours after giving blood.
For more information, please contact Jennifer Hutson, volunteer drive coordinator and Harpool teacher, by phone at 940-369-1780 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
