Denton ISD joins United Way for Day of Action book drive to encourage literacy

Denton Independent School District is celebrating the Day of Action on Saturday, Sept. 12, with the United Way of Denton County by encouraging students, staff and community to donate books to increase literacy for all ages. Books both in English and Spanish are welcome.

On the Day of Action, a national day to encourage volunteerism, community members will assemble “tiny libraries,” fill them with books and place them throughout the community. The hope is to increase literacy by making books more convenient to children and adults.

Donations of new or gently used books may be delivered to the UWDC Office, located at 1314 Teasley Drive in Denton, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Volunteers who wish to help with the assembly of libraries can sign up here.
