Guyer hosting youth cheer clinic on Jan. 23

Guyer High School will host its annual Junior Wildcat youth cheerleading clinic on Saturday, Jan. 23, with children from 4 years old to the fifth-grade level invited to participate.

The event begins at 9 a.m. in the school’s gyms, located at 7501 Teasley Lane in Denton, and features instruction from the Wildcat cheerleaders themselves under the supervision of school cheerleading coaches. Junior Wildcats will learn various skills such as motions, jump techniques, dance as well as a cheer. Their work will culminate with a performance for parents 11:30 a.m. that day in the Guyer competition gym.

After the clinic, Junior Wildcats are invited to perform their cheer at the Guyer varsity basketball game against Keller Fossil Ridge High School on Tuesday, Jan. 26.

Registration is $35 per child, though each additional sibling can register for just $15. Because early registration has already ended, a clinic T-shirt cannot be guaranteed for new registrants, though a limited amount of extras will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration forms with a check made out to “GHS Cheer” can be submitted to the silver box at the Guyer front office. To download a registration form, click here.

Event-day registration will also be available beginning at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 23.
