Guyer winter guard advances to finals at statewide competition

The Guyer High School winter guard advanced to the finals in a recent statewide competition in Austin, placing 11th overall.

At the Austin WGI Regional, part of a competitive national winter guard circuit, the Wildcats advanced to the finals by placing seventh out of 28 in the preliminary round of the Scholastic A competition. Only 15 groups advanced to the finals of the indoor competition.

The Wildcats finished with a score of 75.920, just 0.06 out of placing in the top 10.

Guyer’s winter guard will next compete on Saturday, March 5, in the Tulsa WGI Regional competition in Broken Arrow, Okla. The Guyer winter guard is directed by Susan Hanggi with the assistance of techs Malan Messemore and Sarah Ross.
