Apple Tree Project for back-to-school assistance taking place throughout May

The Denton community’s Apple Tree Project, which provides back-to-school assistance for families in need, will host nine application events throughout May to help Denton ISD students.

Parents or guardians of Denton ISD students who qualify for free or reduced lunch can apply for clothing and back-to-school supplies at specific times and locations on the following dates: Tuesday, May 3; Wednesday, May 4; Thursday, May 5; Wednesday, May 11, Thursday, May 12; Monday, May 16; Tuesday, May 17; Thursday, May 19; and Tuesday, May 24. Times and locations for each day can be seen at the bottom of this page or on the Denton ISD Counseling Department website’s calendar.

Applications will no longer be accepted when all spots in the Apple Tree Project are filled, so families are encouraged to attend the earliest possible application date they can.

To apply for assistance, families must bring a valid Texas photo ID (a driver’s license or state-issued ID) and know their children’s clothing sizes. Additionally, birth certificates for children entering kindergarten must be brought, if applicable.

Those who do not bring the aforementioned documentation will be turned away, and families who have participated in the Apple Tree Project four times may not apply again until June 1. Families who do not qualify for free or reduced lunch must have a proven financial crisis to apply.

The Apple Tree Project is operated by Interfaith Ministries of Denton in coordination with support from local organizations, businesses and agencies. For more information about the project, please contact Interfaith Ministries at 940-565-5479.
