Jason Rainey named new HR executive director

Jason Rainey, principal of Crownover Middle School since 2013, has been named Denton Independent School District’s executive director of human resources. Mr. Rainey’s addition brings 13 years of experience in education to the human resources staff.

“Having worked with Mr. Rainey for the past few years, I am aware of his talent level and his commitment to the progress of student and faculty success as well as his campus leadership,” said Dr. Robert Stewart, assistant superintendent of human resources “I am looking forward to him joining our HR family.”

Mr. Rainey began his educational career as a teacher and coach at Ford Middle School in Allen ISD. In 2004, he moved to the Lowery Freshman Center, where he served as a teacher and head junior varsity football coach for four years. During that time, he was selected as one of nine colleagues as part of the Allen ISD Leadership Academy for Aspiring Administrators, ultimately earning a scholarship to pay for his advanced degree.

In 2009, Mr. Rainey joined Denton ISD as the assistant principal at Crownover Middle School and was named the Region 11 Education Service Center Assistant Principal of the Year in 2011. Mr. Rainey moved to McKinney High School in 2012 as a House Principal. His duties included supervising the math department, serving as campus testing coordinator and response to intervention chair. He returned to Crownover the following year as the school’s principal.

Mr. Rainey earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and his master’s degree in educational administration from Lamar University. His wife, Lacey Rainey, is also an administrator with Denton ISD, serving as principal of Pecan Creek Elementary, and they are raising two students in the school system.

“Mr. Rainey’s exceptional professionalism, his experiences at the secondary level, his attention to detail, and his progressive and innovative demeanor will add great value to our HR team,” Dr. Stewart said. “I am excited that Mr. Rainey will be joining our Human Resources Division.”
