Denton orchestra hosting animal adoption awareness concert on May 28

Denton High School’s orchestra will host an awareness concert at the Linda McNatt Animal Shelter from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28, in support of the shelter’s pet adoption program.

The orchestra will perform its “Music, Mutts and Meows” miniature concert on the front patio of the shelter, located at 3717 N. Elm St. in Denton, with visitors and guests welcome to bring lawn chairs and picnic food to enjoy the festivities. For those who prefer to purchase food, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit will also have meals available for sale at the event.

To help further support the animal shelter, True Blue Dog Biscuits will sell homemade organic dog biscuits at the small concert, with 50 percent of proceeds going to the shelter. Activities available during the event include face painting and an “instrument petting zoo” for young potential musicians to see the orchestra’s musical tools up close.

For more information about the event, please contact Julianne Booth, director of orchestras at Denton High, by phone at 940-369-2210 or via email at jbooth@dentonisd.org.
