Kevin Franklin Jr. elevated to position of Wide Area Network Manager

      Kevin Franklin Kevin Franklin Jr. , telephone and network engineer, has been named the manager of the district’s wide area network. He replaces Chris Langford who left the district.
     
      “I am honored to be here and look forward to this exciting opportunity to use my knowledge and experience to continue supporting our students and staff,” said Mr. Franklin.

 

      Mr. Franklin brings eight years of  experience to the position. Most recently he served as the local/wide area network administrator for the City of Grapevine.

 

      Prior to that, Mr. Franklin served  as a member of the district technology staff for five years. He started his career as a server engineer for Softlayer Technologies in Dallas, and then moved to Hewlett-Packard in Carrollton and Cisco Systems in Richardson.

 

      “Kevin has three Cisco network certifications that include security and VoIP,” said Ernie Stripling, technology information officer. “His experience as a remote site engineer working with our campuses supporting Internet, and network and wireless connectivity make him a great fit for our district."

 

      Mr. Franklin earned his associate's degree from ITT Technical Institute in 2008 with extensive training in computer networking systems. He and his wife, Joy, are raising three children in the district.
