District Joins Winning the Fight! to Host October Events

Denton ISD’s Counseling Services Department is working with Winning the Fight! to host four community events at each of the district’s comprehensive high schools to address drug abuse and its impact on students and their families.

The events will feature a presentation of the documentary “Not Me” and a panel discussion with experts in the field and community. Attendees will be able to have a candid and open conversation regarding drug abuse and developing plans of action.

Winning the Fight! is a non-profit organization started by Kathy O’Keefe, a Denton County resident who lost her son to a drug overdose. Their goal is to provide families education, support and the necessary resources to battle drug abuse and addiction.

The community events are set for the following dates and locations:

  • 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Denton High School
  • 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Ryan High School
  • 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, at Braswell High School
