Nine musicians named to All-State band, choir & orchestra

Students representing all the district’s comprehensive high schools were selected by competitive audition for the prestigious All-State Band, Choir and Orchestra. Honorees will perform with the best musicians from all over Texas during the annual Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio hosted from Feb. 14-17.

 

Students selected for All-State Band: Samson Hudson, Denton High; Destiny Lerma, Ryan High; Jordan Meza, Guyer High; Luke Owens, Ryan High.

Directors include: Brian Wilson, Jesse Woolery and Phillip Elder at Denton High; Amy Woody, Dr. Ellis Hampton and Tyler Brinkman at Guyer High; and Mary Brown, Akira Robles and Jessica Watts at Ryan High.

 

Students selected for All-State Choir: Lauren Barr, Braswell High; Haley Dortch, Guyer High.

Directors include: Ben Oehlschlaeger at Braswell High; Mary Mathis-Sadler, Rebecca Kraft at Guyer High.

 

Students selected for All-State Orchestra: Teresa Lee, Guyer High; Ethan Nguyen, Guyer High; Aiden Wood, Guyer High.

Directors at Guyer High include: Michelle Hanlon and Jeremy Atkins.

 

TMEA is an organization of over 11,000 school music educators dedicated to promoting excellence in music education. TMEA comprises five divisions: Band, Orchestra, Vocal, Elementary and College. TMEA leaders carefully monitor the actions of all state decision-making bodies on issues affecting fine arts instruction.
