RHS Parliamentary Procedures Team Wins 12th State Title

At the recent State Leadership Conference for Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA), the Ryan High Parliamentary Procedure Team won first place for the twelfth time in 13 years. They now advance to competition at the International Leadership Conference in Dallas from June 27-30.

Members of this year’s team consists of Sam Abarca, Christian Meza, Caroline Talkington, Grace Mulkey, Anna Bloom, Anna Sargent, Grace Wilson and Sam Keuer.

HOSA parliamentary procedures competitions are twofold, requiring students to sit for a written exam that covers the rules and procedures that govern meetings. Then, judges present the team a scenario that requires a meeting be conducted on the spot with only 15 minutes of preparation.

The mission of HOSA is to empower HOSA-Future Health Professionals to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration, and experience.

The team is coached by Ms. Helen Hayes and Mr. Richard Hayes.
