Donnie Watson, a veteran baseball coach an educator, has been named the new head baseball coach at Braswell High School. He had been serving as an assistant baseball coach and teacher at Denton High for the past two years.

Bill Carrico, who was a longtime coach and athletic director with the Denton Independent School District, died Sunday at the age of 79.
Braswell, Denton and Ryan will compete in District 5-5A, and Guyer will compete in District 6-6A for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 school years as part of the UIL's football and basketball realignment.
