Elementary students who ride buses releasing at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 27, parents may pick up students at any time
Feb. 27 Afternoon Announcement
We will be releasing elementary students who ride buses at 2:30 p.m. in an effort give our bus drivers plenty of time to make student drop-offs. Please remember this is for elementary school bus riders only. All other bus routes will run on schedule, but families should still expect delays on drop-offs.
This is another reminder that parents may pick up their student from campus at any time. Please use caution while driving and stay tuned for updates.
Feb. 27 Morning Announcement
While our district is committed to the continued safety of our students and staff, we understand that the ultimate decision remains with our students’ parents.
Parents may pick up their student from campus at any time. For parents who wish for your student to be released from school to an adult other than a parent/guardian they must have been previously listed in your student’s file as an emergency contact. Again, this is a safety consideration for our students and to ensure they are released to an appropriate adult.
Buses will run on a regular schedule but will take precautions on the roads, so drop-off times could be delayed by up to an hour or more.
Feb. 26 Announcement
Denton ISD Families –
We hope everyone has remained safe and warm during this week of inclement weather. We have received reports from the National Weather Service regarding the weekend’s forecasted wintery mix and have monitored the current road conditions that affect Denton ISD schools.
The weather is not expected to have an impact on Denton County until early afternoon, so our plan is to have school on a regular schedule Friday, Feb. 27. Our staff will remain in constant contact with the NWS and local transportation officials regarding the weather and its effect on road conditions. Our goal is to provide our students with a full day of engaging academic instruction, but should the weather come in heavier than expected you are welcome to pick up your children from school early.
Our buses will also run on a regular schedule, but drop-off times may run a little behind schedule depending on weather and road conditions. Please note that any changes to school dismissal procedures will be released through our district website, social media channels and automated notification system first, so please check there before calling a campus.
Safety is always one of our utmost priorities and we appreciate the support we have received from you this week. Please stay warm, stay safe and travel with caution.
Sincerely, Dr. Jamie Wilson Denton ISD Superintendent
