Guyer, Ryan bands earn top-15 finish at Golden Triangle Classic
The district’s three high schools performed at the 10th annual Golden Triangle Classic last weekend, thrilling the hometown fans with a pair of top 15 finishes and an excellent exhibition.
The Guyer Marching Band finished second in its class and seventh overall, advancing to the event’s evening finals competition. The Raider Marching Band finished seventh in its class and 14th overall.
Denton High could not compete due to its role as event host, but the Bronco Marching Band delivered a solid exhibition performance.
Guyer earned the top score in percussion and third place in music and color guard. The band as a whole earned sixth place in overall visual and ninth place in general effect to finish with a total of 856.8 points.
Sherman placed first in three of the five categories to edge Frisco Liberty for the 2013 Golden Triangle Classic title.
