I grew up knowing I wanted to become a nurse from an early age. I can recall however, a distinct moment in my 8th grade health class thinking that I might like teaching about the human body as well. It wouldn't be until much later that I realized I could do BOTH!
I achieved my BSN in May of 1999 and started working as an RN in labor and delivery that year. Within 18 months I became a travel nurse in Florida and worked there for 1.5 years. My husband and I moved to Texas in 2002 and I worked L&D at Denton Regional (now Medical City Denton) as well as Baylor Grapevine . I have experience in home health nursing (10 years) as well a brief stent in pre-op nursing when the census was high. Throughout my years of nursing I was always passionate about effective teaching thus making the transition to health science teacher very natural. This is my fifth year teaching and my fourth year at the ATC. I started the CCMA program last year and the students were very successful with a 96% pass rate!!! I hope to continue to inspire students and help them become sucessful in the fields they choose to pursue.
