Dear Parents and Teachers,
With our Superintendent's support this year, we have been able to bring Destination Imagination (DI) Program on adistrict wide level.We are parent volunteers who have had DI teams and have been involved with this program in various positions for some years now. We are helping co-ordinate the teams at Denton ISD. Your EXPO teacher may be involved in helping co-ordinate teams at your school. If not, please contact us directly. This is our first year doing this, so please bear with us.
What is Destination Imagination (DI)?
Destination Imagination is a challenge program that promotes creative and critical thinking along with collaborative problem solving. A team of 2 and up to 7 kids work on finding a creative solution to a challenge and present it at the regional tournament on March 1. The top teams then compete at state level and have the opportunity to move onto global level. Teams are currently forming at your school and we are looking for team members as well as Team Managers. If anyone is interested to be on a DI team please download and email the Signup form. We will try our best to put you on a team.
We cannot have a team without Team Managers! We are always looking for adult volunteers to manage teams. Please contact us if you have any questions about being a Team Manager. Free Training is providedby the regional office (TVNC) and through DIUniversity.org. First Competitive Team Manager training is coming up on Oct 12th. We will provide the training if you miss this one. Please check out TVNC's calendar www.tvncdi.org for other trainings and workshops.
Deadline to form teams has been extended to Oct 15. Team members can always be added later before Tournament registration.
For those of you who have a DI team this year:
Denton ISD is now paying for team registration and tournament fees on a first come first serve basis. Please contact the DI coordinators below if you have not already done so. Once we have the information from you we will place an order with the district for registration. Team Nos and printed DI materials will follow.
