How Can I Update My Computer?
- Type "update" in the search bar and choose "check for updates" as indicated in the pic below.
- Click the blue link titled "Check online for updates from Microsoft Update"
- When updates are done, you can choose to restart your computer now, for changes to take effect immediately (this takes a little longer than a typical reboot), or you can choose to schedule the restart at a later time.
- If you'd like to schedule the restart, select click schedule restart, switch it to "on" and select a convenient time.

How do I Extend or Duplicate my display?
Press the "Windows" key and "P" key consecutively. This will show the different ways to project your screen.
It toggles between PC Only, Duplicate, Extended or Second/Panel Screen only.
Duplicate - duplicates the image on the PC on the Panel
Extended - allows you to open one window and project to the panel, then open a separate window on your computer (i.e. - you can work on something while displaying something else)

Installing Software through Software Center

Start > All Programs > Software Center (On the Start screen on Windows 10)

Once the Software Center is opened you will see a list of available applications.

Highlight one specific application. You will be directed to the Install page. Read any applicable notes to ensure this is the software you need.

Click Install

Once the software has been installed, you will find it under the Installation Status tab. *This may take a bit to populate.

If a HEAT ticket has been resolved and you don’t see the software available in the Software Center, click on the Options tab. Click Sync Policy. Try to install again.

My Screen is Sideways?
On a PC:
Make sure to log in to the computer. Once you are logged in hit the Ctrl + Alt + Arrow key of the direction you want to move the computer screen. For example, if you press Ctrl + Alt + the left arrow key, the screen would flip sideways on the left. Pressing the up arrow key will restore the computer to its original position.
On a Chromebook:
At any time, press the Ctrl + Shift + Refresh button, this will rotate the screen 180 degrees until you have the screen in the desired position.
