Knowing and considering the daily air quality is important to our respiratory and overall health. Unhealthy air can cause airway swelling, decreased lung function, cough, scratchy throat, and feeling tired. Poor air quality days may be particularly challenging for those with asthma or other respiratory conditions. "Staying inside on unhealthy days may decrease school absenteeism due to asthma exacerbations". According to the North Texas Asthma Consortium, "enjoying outdoor activities on healthy air quality days may increase physical stamina and promote more positive feelings."
