Denton ISD elementary and secondary schools with receive Chromebooks as part of the district's new technology initiative. This rollout will take place between 2016-2020.
This Technology initiative was proposed by the Denton Digital Learning Design Team, consisting of district teachers, administrators, technology specialists and curriculum specialists. This plan was built on a collaboration model rather than a 1:1 model.
In each phase, the appropriate secondary classroom will receive 1 teacher Chromebook, 15 student Chromebooks and 1 Chromebook cart. Each elementary classroom will receive 1 teacher Chromebook, 12 student Chromebooks and 1 Chromebook cart.
    Year 1: 4th, 5th, Social Studies
    Year 2: 2nd, 3rd, Science
    Year 3: 1st, ELAR
    Year 4: Pre-K, Kinder, Math
Every student and staff member in Denton ISD has a Google account and Chromebooks are built to work seamlessly with these accounts, making resources available that allow students to experience the "Four C's" of 21st century learning: Creating, Collaborating, Critical Thinking, and Communicating.
In addition, a Professional Development Plan has been put into place for teachers before they receive their Chromebook and other trainings offered as they progress with their classroom set. These will consist of; face to face trainings, Webinars, online Canvas courses and conference sessions offered at TIA.
