Mrs. Amanda Bomar
Hello Pecan Creek Elementary!
I am so thrilled to begin my first year as Principal at Pecan Creek Elementary! It is a joy and a privilege for me to work with such talented students and dedicated staff members.
My journey as an educator began 16 years ago. That journey has taken me to amazing places and given me some of my most valuable experiences. In 2003, I graduated from East Texas Baptist University with a Bachelor of Science in Education with a specialization in Biology. From there, I went on to teach 4th, 5th, and 6th grade for several years. After my time in the classroom, I had the opportunity to provide Reading and Math intervention for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. I truly loved every moment of my time as a classroom and intervention teacher.
In 2011, I was given the opportunity to be the Curriculum Administrator and Campus Intervention Specialist at Rivera Elementary in Denton ISD. During that time,I completed my Masters in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin University and in 2014 I joined the Wilson team as the Assistant Principal. I was proud to serve as the Assistant Principal at Wilson Elementary for 5 years, before being named Principal of Pecan Creek.
On a personal note, I am married with two children. My son is 9 years old and is a 4th grade student at Pecan Creek this year. I am so impressed by how much he learns every day. My daughter is 6 years old and ready to be a bear cub in 1st grade.
I love to be with my family and just enjoy everything that life brings our way. I have a deep passion for Science and all things nature related. If I could be outside all the time, I would. I am a natural explorer and always have a need to experience new places and things. I also like to try out fun new recipes and projects.
I have a heart for quality education to be available globally for all students. I visit several schools in Uganda during my summers and that time continues to inspire me. Education is such a precious gift. Nelson Mandela said that, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world". I truly believe that. I believe that education is transformative and life changing! Education has the power to enrich a student's life in the most amazing ways and I am honored to be a part of that every day. I want all students to love school and be excited about their learning!
I look forward to getting to know everyone this year!
